Forty-two-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem died on Monday afternoon after being ejected from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia near Atlanta.

◦ Victim: Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, 42, an Atlanta resident and staff member at Wesley International Academy. 

Date & Time: Monday afternoon, just before 4:00 p.m. 

Location: Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in Cobb County, Georgia. 

Incident: Kariem was thrown from his seat while the ride was in motion, struck other patrons, and landed below on the roof of a haunted house attraction. 

Injuries: At least four other patrons sustained injuries during the incident. 

Aftermath & Investigation: Six Flags temporarily closed nine similar roller coasters across its North American parks out of an abundance of caution (including rides at Canada's Wonderland and La Ronde).The Cobb County Police Department, along with the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire, launched a full investigation into the cause and the status of the ride's restraints.
